Hummel H Spot Ball

The H Spot ball ($35) is a fair trainer, but would not make a good match ball.  The bladder is butyl rubber for excellent air and shape retention.  The cover is a very durable PVC.  It is significantly heavier than most match balls and was disliked by some field players.  Our keepers enjoyed training with it.

AVID Soccer Equipment Hummel H SpotThe cover is made of PVC instead of more expensive polyurethane.  This gives the ball better weather resistance and durability, but it may be harder for some players to maneuver with cleats.  On the other hand, our keepers loved how sticky the PVC was against the latex of their gloves.  They also liked the weight for training their upper body, goal kicks and punts.  After a few hours with this, a regular weight ball will travel much farther.

The machine stitched 32 panel cover has held up well.  The graphics have scuffed slightly, but no more than expected.  The PVC material is largely water resistant, but it becomes very slick when wet.  The H Spot comes in three color variations, black w/ multicolor spots, white with sky blue spots, and white with pink spots.  It was immediately labeled "the chick ball" but it still gets played in practice as much as any other, and the keepers grab it first.

The weight is on the high side, but within the parameters of a regulation ball.  If you are looking for a medicine ball, check out the KwikGoal or the Select Training ball (not yet tested).
