adidas Predator ForMotion Training Jersey
The Predator ($45) short sleeve jersey is an on/off pitch shirt designed using the adidas ForMotion air movement system. The jersey is made of different fabrics to give it all season comfort and high style.
The Predator jersey uses a variety of fabrics with different aesthetics and characteristics. Our testers really liked the look and style. Our white/black/red example used both breathable and non-breathable panels. There are mesh sections at the sides and back. This garment has the adidas logo embroidered on the front and the teamgeist logo on the back. The predator stripes are heat transfered. This is a very well made garment that has held up to all of our abuse.
At $45 we expect that this jersey will get used for everything from scrimmages to walking the mall.. As such, we tested it under a variety of conditions. The quality of the construction is first rate. It is a very comfortable shirt to wear and the seams and graphics have all held up well. Like most 100% polyester fabrics, it is wash and dry. Since our ended up with daily use for a while, this was very nice. We also noticed that, with proper care, our test garment has not stained.
The jersey is true to size and cut to fit close to the body. This adds to the comfort as the light weight fabrics do not restrict movement. Our one complaint about the design is the large hemispherical patch that serves as the tag. This patch has a tendency to pop out after a bit of running. It is a bit distracting. The testers either found themselves either tucking it back in frequently or feeling silly with it out.
The ForMotion system is a design that facilitates air movement around the body. This is accomplished through the use of three dimensional fluid dynamic modeling. The system is applied to a number of different garments that work together or individually. See our review of the F50+ Training Shorts for an example.
On the pitch, or running outside, this ForMotion design works well. Air flows through the garment cooling the core of the body. In the gym, this is far less effective. There is little airflow on a treadmill and none on strength training equipment. Unfortunately, the fabrics used on the front panel do not dry quickly and this leads to a soggy shirt at the end of the workout.

I liked the Predator jersey-the fabrics and the mesh sections kept my body cool and really wicked moisture away from it. I'm a long-distance runner; I took it on a ten-mile run and it was great! I have no complaints with the shirt-I never noticed the tag while I was running. I also liked the style and design of the shirt.
