adidas F50.6 TUNIT a3 Turf

These F50+ ($90) based boots are designed for artificial turf and every day wear.  They combine some of the newest technology from adidas including the Traxion sole, A3 cushioning unit and the synthetic Tunit upper.  They combine a soccer style with running shoe cushion.

AVID Soccer Equipment Review adidas F50 TurfThe boot is designed for use on hard, dry ground or artificial turf.  The Traxion outsole is a non-marking design that provides good grip on turf and short grass.  Longer grass or wet conditions could be a problem.  The midsole is based on a running shoe.  The A3 design is an energy management system intended to provide both cushioning and returned effort.  If not for the royal blue color, this could be good every day shoe.  It will definitely make a good coaches shoe, cross trainer or Phys Ed shoe.  The boots are a bit wider than typical for the Tunit line.  They also have a higher arch making them more like a running shoe.

The upper uses the same materials and design as the top flight F50 Tunits.  The design uses a Velcro cover over the laces.  This gives the F50s a clean kicking surface and good ball control.  The synthetic material is water repellent which makes this a decent every day shoe for winter time.  In the summer, it may not breathe enough.

Unfortunately, it is also stiff until it is broken in.  One of our testers complained that the toe was very uncomfortable in the early stages.  Once broken in, the shoes were even good enough for light running.
