Coaching Resources On-line
There are a seemingly infinite number of sites that offer advice, drills, links, practice plans, etc. Searching through the ads and garbage to find what the best can be a daunting task. Look here for some of our favorites.
As a coach and trainer, I look for any source of information. I want to improve my skills, find new ideas, expand my knowledge, and keep things fun for my players. One of the greatest sources of information is the internet; however, the quality of the information, the design of the site, and the amount of advertising can be frustrating. It is part of the reason we founded AVID Soccer in the first place.
Please note that AVID Soccer does not provide any content or association with the sites listed. AVID Soccer is not responsible for the quality of the content or functionality of the site.
Free Resources:
AVID Soccer (http://www.avidsoccer.com ) – Shameless plug ![]()
“Soccer Coach L” Coaching Manual (http://www.ucs.mun.ca/~dgraham/manual/) – a long time resource of coaching ideas and drills. The “List” is a type of email based discussion group that is similar to a chat room. You can subscribe and unsubscribe at any time. We recommend you stick to the digest version unless you lots of time on your hands.
Ken Gamble’s Soccer Drills (http://www.decatursports.com/soccerdrills.htm) – a series of links pages with a variety of manuals, drills, games, and practice plans.
And Again (http://www.and-again.com/drilgame/default.asp) – Ad supported collection of drills and games. There are a number of fun games here, but they are not well organized. A search feature makes finding the right game easier. The Coaching forum may not be of much value. Unfortunately, the site is not well maintained and contains errors in the HTML.
Soccer Training Info (http://www.soccer-training-info.com/) – Ad supported collection of drills, games and general information. There are even some interesting editorial articles on soccer trivia and professional players.
CalSouth Coaching Education (http://www.calsouth.com/coachyouthsoccer_overview.htm) – provides background on the program and links to available courses.
Commercial Resources:
FA Learning (http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/FALearning/) – Sponsored by the English Football Association, FA Learning provides a variety of courses and clinics. Many are available on-line.
Success in Soccer (http://www.successinsoccer.com/cms/front_content.php) – OK, so the site doesn’t have a great deal of information, but this is a great coaching magazine. The site does offer a few rotating articles and additional information to subscribers.
US Soccer (http://www.ussoccer.com/) – The center of the USA National Soccer program from coaching training to professional players.
