Umbro England Goal Keeper Jersey
The Official England Home jersey ($85) from the 2006 World Cup is an interesting combination of style and comfort. This replica of the Umbro team kit is faithfully reproduced down to the star for England's 1966 World Cup victory.
The materials of this jersey are also first rate. The main body is a lightweight moisture management fabric that breathes well. The underside of each sleeve uses a color matched mesh to consistent good ventilation. There is also venting patches at the sides that use a more open weave to improve breathability at strategic points. The sleeves are tapered with a very fine ribbing to keep them in place when pushed up to the elbows or when sliding on gloves.
This is a very comfortable jersey. The combination of weight, venting and moisture management make this an all-weather jersey. The wicking fabric will also help in wet weather, as would be expected from England.
AVID Soccer occasionally has the chance to test official kit and equipment. We are always amazed at how spoiled the pros are. The England jersey is no exception. The shirt is very light weight with a tremendous attention to detail. The winner's star that is heat transferred onto the breast even has a holographic version of the three lions England logo. The full three lions logo is embroidered just below. In addition, there is a subtle pattern woven into the back of the jersey that also shows the three lions.
