Soccer Locker (Retailer)
Soccer Locker is a brick and mortar retailer in the Miami Florida area. They also have a web site that includes a product catalog and local soccer information and events. The selection is limited but the prices are fair.
Price, selection, information and customer service are what separates one store from the next. Pricing is average. Some things are better, some are not. Selection is quite good for a retail store, but not spectacular for an on-line catalog. Nike, adidas and Puma are well represented across the categories, but Reusch, Brine and other brands are hit or miss. Information is limited to a manufacturer's product description. Customer Service was very good. We ordered several items from their catalog over the weekend. Monday, we received a call regarding an out-of-stock item. While we certainly would have liked to know that when placing the order, the personal call was definitely appreciated. Soccer Locker worked with us to get an alternative item and shipped it promptly.
Soccer Locker is an easy site to navigate, but inconsistent. The offerings are broken down by the usual categories of Accessories, Apparel, Equipment, Footwear, Replica (pro teams), Uniforms, and local information. Each category is displayed as a color coded tab in the header. Within each category tab, there are sub-categories buttons on the left frame. Some of these buttons have menus and some do not. The menus do not conform to either the color coding or the tab metaphor.
The product pages can be sorted by description or price and the number of products per page can be changed. The changed settings are lost each time a page is refreshed or a new page is selected. Adding to the inconsistency, some product images produce a larger picture on mouse-over, but most do not.
The coaches and trainers of AVID Soccer support local retailers and the community. It is important to sit down and try on boots and gloves before they are purchased to ensure they fit correctly. We also think it is important to buy those same items from the business that makes the fitting possible. They pay for the inventory, overhead, and employees that allow you to get the right product. It isn't fair to try it on, then buy it on-line just to save a few dollars. These local retailers also provide support to local teams and community organizations. We should return the favor.
