AVID Soccer Award Nominations 2007 "Best Boot"

2007 was a year for improving existing designs.  Both Nike and and adidas improved on their main lines.  Umbro gets the best "kiss" of the Women's World cup.

This was a year for power:

  • The Absolute is the pinnacle of the adidas power line.  David Beckham's boot of choice, this Predator has inserts to provide additional mass at the end of the foot enhancing power.  The solid base and supple upper present consistent touch and feel.
  • The +F50.7 is our outsider in this years selection.  It is Arjen Robben's connection with the ground and the ball.  Significant improvements over 2006's "AVID Soccer Innovative product of the Year" have given the Tunit a nomination.
  • The Nike Laser is the latest in the Total90 line.  It is Wayne Roone's choice and Nike's best power platform yet.  Nike's flagship uses a very thin zoom air insert for comfort and the SPP upper for control.
  • The Umbro X III is a combination of solid stabilization and soft touch.  Kelly Smith's kisses don't quite measure up to Brandi's disrobing, but it was great product placement.
