Sweetspot

Offered in a variety of colors, the Sweetspot ($7) boot band helps keep laces tied and provides a more even kicking surface.

For the most part, the Sweetspot does fulfill its intended role.  These lace covers are little more than a tire inner tube cut into bands.  The Sweetspot provide the most benefit to players with inexpensive boots.  They are more beneficial to players with less experience.  Our club level testers found them annoying when they needed to retie their laces as them must be pulled down and back.  They are unnecessary on boots with asymmetrical laces or with a tongue cover.

They seem to be a right of passage in U-10/12 recreational leagues, but rarely advance beyond there.  As players gain experience, the feel of the boot and the tightness of the laces becomes more important and more personal.  Since they are one size fits all, they would be dangerous to a U-6 player with small feet and too tight for a teenager with larger foot.
