Diadora Maracana RTX 12 FG
The Maracana ($88) is a mid priced/mid weight boot with a some top flight touches. It features Diadora's Axeler technology and a unique cleat pattern. Lacing is symmetrical, but partially hidden.
The Maracana takes a decidedly modern in its design. The lacing is narrow or covered by the tongue flap. The upper is a combination of kangaroo leather and fabric. The leather is soft and water resistant. The toe box is grooved for added friction on strikes. The heel has a full counter providing a comfortable cup. The inner is a stretch resistant liner. The insole is EVA padding.
The Maracana is available in Charcoal/Silver, Silver/Royal/White, White/Black/Red and Black/Red. The color scheme is carried through the studs giving our Black/Red examples a unique look.

This is one of the best value boots we have tested. While not as comfortable as Diadora's own Brasil, the Maracana has excellent touch and feel. At 9.4 oz, they split the weight difference between speed and power. The outsole is a multi-part component. The studs and Axeler wire are sandwiched between a clear plastic and outer and a fiber lasting board.

I can cut side to side very well with these cleats, and have no slipping incidents with them. I get good traction with these cleats, and I feel safe when wearing them. The heel protection is comforting. These cleats breathe pretty well with all the venting areas. I like how there is a very small amount of laces exposed, and the tongue’s band that makes it stay close to the cleat. The leather has a traditional effect on the cleats. These cleats have really long laces but can be stuffed under the tongue, they are just a little inconvenience. These are well rounded cleats that should fit the wanted criteria of most players.
