Puma V3.08 Training Ball
Puma V3.08 Training Ball
Calling the 3.08 ($40) a training ball assumes that you are operating at a fairly high level. This ball qualifies for the FIFA Inspected and NFHS marks. Using Puma's patented 24 panel design and dimpled cover, this ball is fast and sure.
Looking like a big golf ball, the V3.08 would qualify as a match ball for many teams. The cover is polyurethane dimpled to improve flight and control. It has a protective top coat with the graphic screened onto the surface. The interior of the ball includes a stretch resistant polyester lining and a natural latex bladder with an airlock valve. In addition to the panel design, the ball features Puma's Perimeter Balance Technology.
The surface and graphics are very durable although the color does show scuffs and stains. The unique panel design also tends to pick up more mud than other balls. However, the ball is designed for all weather and can be rinsed off without damaging the material. The graphics emphasize the panel design, but do show wear after a few uses.
An ordinary 32 panel soccer ball is made up of shapes that naturally form a sphere. The 24 panel design patented by Puma takes an entirely different approach. They have achieved superior balance by treating the ball as a spherical cube. Each of the six sides of the cube centers around a disk. Those disks are ringed by a shape that naturally forms a curve. Each of the rings is then edged with a parabola again forming a naturally curved surface. These innate curves of these shapes give the ball a natural balance.
