Umbro England Chrome Ball

Looking more like pearl paint than chrome, the England ball ($30) is a standard training ball.  It uses a basic 32 panel design.

This ball is designed more for form than function.  The skin is polyurethane giving it good water and abrasion resistance.  The graphics are interesting consisting of the national logo and abstract geometric shapes.  Are tests show that the graphics also seem very resilient.  After weeks of play, it shows little wear.

It has a butyl bladder which should give it better air retention; however our example seems to lose significant volume over a week or two.  Butyl rubber does not have the same feel as latex.  Playing with the England ball makes this very obvious.  The ball is less compliant than other examples.  The ball is fairly well balanced, but it is stiff.

Overall, the England ball is a decent recreational ball.  It looks cool and plays well enough.  We would not recommend it for premier play, but for kicking around the park, it is fine.
